Fighting Diabetes With Functional Medicine!

If your sick of just putting band-aids on big problems and are looking for a
completely different approach to medicine – this is it

Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease in which your blood sugar (glucose) levels are too high and can lead to dangerous complications.  An estimated 29 million Americans have some form of diabetes, nearly 10 percent of the population! Another 86 million people have prediabetes, with up to 30 percent of them developing type 2 diabetes within five years.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder that results from problems controlling a hormone called insulin.  Diabetes symptoms occur when there is too much sugar in the bloodstream. Prolonged exposure to high blood sugar levels can damage nerve fibers that affect blood flow, the heart, the eyes, limbs and your internal organs. When untreated, diabetes can cause complications such as an increased risk of coronary heart disease, trouble getting pregnant, vision loss, neuropathy (nerve pain) in the hands or feet, digestive issues, erectile dysfunction, pain, weight gain and more.

Type 1 Diabetes develops at a younger age with a more sudden and severe onset of symptoms. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition.

Type 2 Diabetes generally begins later in life and the symptoms are not as severe (at least at the onset).

The good news is that is possible to reverse diabetes naturally, control the symptoms, and halt diabetes complications before they become too severe.  Although it is a very serious condition, it can be well-managed with the correct natural treatment and appropriate lifestyle changes. A very high percentage of people with Type 2 Diabetes are able to reverse and naturally manage their condition with the treatment plan from Tri-Cities Functional Medicine.

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease; while it is impossible to “cure” autoimmunity, our treatment plan goes a long way to increasing a member’s independence and quality of life.
Regardless of whether someone has Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes, it is important to treat them as a “whole person,” paying attention to the various health factors that influence the condition, including other hormonal imbalances, gut health issues, nutrition, and more.

Symptoms of diabetes include:

  • High blood glucose
  • High Hemoglobin A1C levels
  • Frequent urination
  • Increased thirst
  • Always feeling hungry
  • Feeling very tired
  • Blurry vision
  • Slow healing of cuts and wounds
  • Tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands or feet
  • Patches of dark skin
